Day 120 - Citydressing for Amsterdam: Qday 2013

Today is the big day: the Netherlands have a new king.

To celebrate the crowing of the king, the city of Amsterdam was dressed up with a new logo (monogram), flags, posters, etc. These are designed by a Dutch design studio, called Koeweiden and Postma.

Day 119 - Concept stores: Merci, Parisian concept store (1)

Whenever I go abroad, I like to visit concept stores.

In Paris, I like to go to Merci.

Merci is the first Magasin Solidaire in France: this means that all profit goes to a charity association that helps women and kids in Madagscar.

At Merci you can find design furniture and fashion (vintage and new). Recently, Merci opened a webshop. So if you want to stay updated, visit the shop and website!

Day 118 - Free wallpaper iPhone5: K(r)oningsdag 2013

In two days, on April the 30, we are celebrating Queensday in the Netherlands.

This year, it's a special day. Our queen, Beatrix, is resigning.
Her son, Willem Alexander, will become King of the Netherlands.

For this occasion I designed an iPhone wallpaper,
entitled K(r)oningsdag.

Day 116 - Photography: Fictive buildings by Filip Dujardin

Filip Dujardin, is a Belgian photographer.

He takes photos form different types of buildings.
With these photos he creates his own architecture.

Day 115 - Boomerang card design: Happy Q-day

On the 30 of April, in the Netherlands we celebrate the birthday of Queen Beatrix.

This boomerang card refers to Q-day and to the Netherlands:
orange (the color of the royalties) and - of course- tulips!

Day 112 - The magic of photography: touching pictures of 12-year-old boy with muscular dystrophy

Luka, a 12-year-old boy, suffers from muscular dystrophy.

Muscular dystophy is a degenerative disease. It makes him weaker and weaker 

over time, and confines him to a wheelchair.

Photograpgher Matej Peljhan created an imaginary world for Luka.

A world in which he can climb stairs, play basketball and much more...

Day 110 - Party time: Happy cows going out for first time this spring

This morning I went to a farm in my neighborhood
to see the cows going out for the first time since months.

They were so happy. It was great to see them running,
jumping, hugging and eating fresh grass.


Of course I brought my camera and took a lot of photos.

Day 106 - First 3D-print exhibition in Amsterdam: XYF, shaping Free Dimensions

On april the 5th the first 3D-print exhibition opened in Amsterdam.
The title of the exhibition is: XYZ, shaping Free Dimensions.

The aim of this exhibition is to show not only art and design objects,
but to show also the 3D-printing process.

The exhibition can be visited until June, the 2.

Day 104 - Opening Rijksmuseum Amsterdam

After 10 years of renovation, the Rijsmuseum reopened yesterday.

The Rijksmuseum (which means museum of the State) belongs to the
most breathtaking museums in the world. In the collection we find
masterpieces from Rembrandt, Johannes Vermeer and Jan Steen.
The museum expects to welcome 2 million visitors pet year.

Day 103 - Design your own string garden (DIY)

Fedor van der Valk designed so-called string gardens.

Instead of putting palants and flowers in pots or vases, he uses self-supporting,
hanging containers.

I own three cows myself and I like them very much:

- Picowsos' s School for Arts

Last weekend I went out to take urbex photos.
As I went to an old, abandoned cow farm, Art of America accompanied me
and posed for me in the stables, sheds, kitchen and living room.

Day 99 - Shopping windows Bijenkorf inspired by Pieces of Art of the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam

The reopening of the Rijksmuseum inspired the Bijenkorf, a Dutch warehouse, to decorate their shopping windows with 'Pieces of Art' of this museum.

In the shopping windows, details can be found of famous paintings (Melkmeisje and Nachtwacht),  china (Delftsblauw), clothes (collars) and jewelry (Medaillon).

Day 97 - Springtime, time for a picnic!

Spring finally arrived. Time to take your bicycle and make a ride.
And when you get hungry or thirsty: have a picnic.

No need to bring a blanket an sit on the ground.
