Day 59 - Creative and cute mug hugs

Today was a busy day... What I have been doing?

First, I checked the mailbox. After that - it took me an hour - I had to write a project plan.
I spoke a few clients on the phone and had lunch. This afternoon I had a meeting with a client,
made a new webdesign, checked the mail (again), and made adjustments to two websites.

Six o'clock already... no inspiration left.... in need of fresh coffee...
and then I came across these cute mug hugs.

I hate knitting, but these are so cute that I might even give it a try...

Day 58 - Graffiti art at the NDSM wharf in Amsterdam

During my visit to the NDSM wharf in Amsterdam I discovered a lot of graffiti:
from simple words to elaborate wall paintings.

Graffiti is generally considered as vandalism. However, it is also an artistic expression
and sometimes even art. At the NDSM wharf I saw many creative and interesting wall paintings, such as the two you see below.

Day 56 - My visit to Couture Graphique at MOTI Breda (2)

Before showing you an impression of the exhibition Couture Graphique, I first want to tell you about the architecture of the building.

MOTI is housed in De Beyerd, a former hospice and one of the oldest buildings in Breda.
In 1955 the building was renovated by the municipality of Breda and transformed into a cultural centre.
In the nineties this centre became the Graphic Design Museum. Hans van Heeswijk, Dutch architect, was responsible for the rebuilding of the museum and the design of a complete new section.

In december 2011 the Graphic Design Museum became MOTI, Muesum Of The Image.

Day 55 - My visit to Couture Graphique at MOTI Breda

This morning I went to Breda to visit the exhibition Couture Graphique. I went home with a lot of photos and two bags filled with books.

Day 54 - Today opening of the exhibition 'Like Pastoe' at Kunsthal Rotterdam

Today is the opening of the exhibition Like Pastoe, 100 years of design innovation at the Kunsthal in Rotterdam.

The exhibition Like Pastoe gives an overview the rich and successful history of Pastoe, among which designs, photographs and advertising materials.

The announcements for this exhibition are designed by Studio Laucke Siebein. They designed a serie of posters based on the shape of a cube. This cube appeared first in a poster that was made for Pastoe in 1961 by Dick Bruna.

Day 52 - NSDM wharf, creative hotspot of Amsterdam (2)

The old NDSM wharf in Amsterdam north is a shelter for creatives.

The large hangars of the ship building industry are filled with containers. These containers are hired by creative companies and artists. One of the hangars even includes a skate park.

When visiting Amsterdam, you should really take the ferry to visit this inspiring part of the city!

Day 51 - NSDM wharf, creative hotspot of Amsterdam

Yesterday, I told you about my trip to Amsterdam.

At the EYE we took the ferry back to the Central Station.
From there we took the ferry to NSDM wharf. The former ship wharf is one of the most important breeding grounds for designers and artists.

Day 50 - My visit to the EYE FIlm Museum in Amsterdam

Last Sunday I went to Amsterdam with my photography class.

Our first stop was at the EYE Film Institute, the new Dutch centre for film culture and heritage, designed by Delugan Meissl. The white building attracts a lot of attention: is it a bird, a shell, a shark, or ...?

We spend a few hours in and around the building, and of course we took a whole lot of photos.

Day 49 - Spring is in the air!

Finally, the snow has gone and the temperatures are going up.
Today the sun is shining and the birds are busy building nests...

Spring is on it's way!

And when you live in the Netherlands, spring means also tulips!

Day 48 - Creative Paper Art

These beautiful illustrations are created by Eiko Ojalo.

Eiko Ojala lives in Estonia. He works as an illustrator and graphic designer.
What I like most about is paper art are the colors an the detail.

Slinkachu, a British photographer, started in 2006 his project 'little people'.
