Follow the red line is a project by EAGER magazine. 

The project consists of a serie of photos, self portraits, connected by a red line. This red line can be anything. The red line has to enter the photo on the left side and it has to leave it somewhere on the right side.

Day 29 - Brilliant Ad Van Gogh Museum

I really love this ad for the museum cafe of the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam.

The ad was designed by the Belgium agency Duval Guillaume.

Day 28 - Free fonts for graphic designers (3)

Today I came across the website of webneel.com.

On this blog you do not only find tutorials,
but also a lot of free fonts.

For example: Lavanderia, Haymaker and Dancing Script.

Day 27 - Snowball maker

This morning I read an article in the newspaper on a snowball maker.

Making perfect sized snowballs without getting freezing and wet hands sounds great to me!

Today I like to share with you the work of German artist Hans Hemmers.

Hans Hemmert lives and works in Berlin. He is fascinated by balloons and uses them to create the most fascinating sculptures.

Day 22 - New webdesign online

Nicole Cornelis, a Dutch painter, asked me a while ago to design her logo and her website.

This week her website went online. As you can see I used a grid - a pattern of blocks - to present buttons, text and her paintings.

Day 21 - Color of the year: Emerald (2)

As I told you yesterday, Emerald has been chosen as the color of the year 2013 by Pantone.

Emerald green symbolizes: life, nature, hope, harmony, balance, well-being, heart, energy, vitality, good luck, peace, beauty, abundance, spring, freshness  and last but not least INSPIRATION.

Day 20 - Color of the year: Emerald!

Pantone has chosen the color of the year 2013.

In 2010 it was turquoise,
in 2011 it was honeysuckle,
and last year it was tangerine tango.

This year it is Emerald green!
A color that promotes balance and harmony.

Day 19 - Berlin, an inspiring city

Berlin is a great:

it is one the world's fast moving cities,
hot spots change more often than in other world cities,

Berlin offers a lot of inspiration for designers!

Day 18 - Before I die I want to....

It was Candy Chang who posed this question. She painted a wall in New Orleans with chalkboard paint and stenciled it with a grid of the sentence 'Before I die I wan to...'

The experiment was very successful. People who walked by wrote down their thoughts,
wishes and aspirations.

The experiment has been repeated at different places, in different countries,
among which the library in Oss, In the Netherlands. And again it is a success:
many visitors of the library, adults and children, write down their reflections.

Day 17 - Not just a shopping bag

Shopping bags are often not more than a plastic or paper bag with a logo on it.
Quite boring... 

But some store do a lot better than that! 

They offer creative and attractive bags.

Day 16 - Textile design in the Netherlands

One of my favorite museums is the TextileMuseum in Tilburg, the Netherlands.

The Museum does not only exhibit and collect,
it is also develops and creates design, fashion and art at the so-called TextielLab.

Day 15 - Free fonts for graphic designers (2)

Today I came across the website of Jos Buivinga: www.exljbris.com.

Jos Buivng is a font designer. On his site you can dowmload several free fonts,

such as Annivers, Museo, Calluna and Delicious.

If you are looking for a free, well crafted font, it is a good idea to visit this website!

Day 14 - The visual evolution of 100 famous logos

Dutch designer Ron van der Vlugt collected 100 logos and describes their history in his book LOGO LIFE.

Each chapter describes the history and evolution of a specific logo / brand, such as Apple, KLM, BMW and WWF.

Day 12 - BYOF: bring your own food, ideas and more

The 'Bring Your Own Food' trend that started in New York
has spread over the world and recently reached Amsterdam.

BASIS is a BYOF bar that allows customers to bring
their own food, either cooked at home, ordered from
eateries such as pizzerias, or bought at the local
supermarket.

Day 11 - Sarah Illenberger speaks in images

One of the designers-illustrators I admire a lot is
SARAH ILLENBERGER.

She uses simple materials such as paper, food, textiles
and wood to create new, vivid, often humorous images
that make stories come to life.

Day 10 - Poster design - 52 weeks

In collaboration with the local library,

I designed this 52 weeks poster.

It gives an overview of all the activities

the library organized in 2012, such as

lectures, meetings and expositions

Day 9 - Free fonts for graphic designers

You need a font for a special project? Of course you can buy one. 

But there are also font design studios that offer sometimes

fonts for free!

On the website of Typedepot* several free fonts can be downloaded,

such as Corki and Piron.

Day 8 - Boomerang card

Today I like to show you one of the Boomerang cards
I designed.

The subject of the set of cards I made is 'morgen',
which means 'tomorrow'.

Day 6 - Boulevard of light

Yesterday, I went to Amsterdam to visit
the Boulevard of Light.

It was an amazing experience...

Day 5 - Amsterdam Light Festival

Off we go to Amsterdam, to visit the Boulevard of Light

at the Amsterdam Light Festival.

And of course to take pictures of the light sculptures
and illuminated bridges en buildings.

Day 4 - Leporello

Today my leporello* arrived from the printing office.
So happy with the final result!


*A leporello is a folding book, named after Leporello, the servant of Don Giovanni (in Mozart's opera Don Giovanni), who writes down his master's conquests in such a book.
