Day 364 - Photography: Happy New Year, the day after

Happy New Year!

Today I went out for a walk and took my camera with me to take some photo's of the remains of the firework. Just to show you that even trash can sometimes be beautiful.

Day 359 - Fashion design: Weimaraners modeling in fotoshoot Acne

I love Weimaraners so much...  I have one myself. She is 8 years young and we call her 'Flo'.

On youtube I saw the video 'Acne, Behind the scenes' with William Wegman (photographer). In this video we see how Wegman does a fotoshoot for Acne. Instead of using human models, he uses Weimaraners. I love this video, enjoy!

Day 350 - Light photography: Christmas street lights

Yesterday I posted one of the photo's I made in the city center.

Experimenting with exposure time and zooming gives sometimes unexpected results.
Colors seem to explode, typefaces seem to become 3D, and the blurring creates new images.

Day 349 - Evening photography: color splash (zooming in and out)

Yesterday evening I went to the city center. The center is decorated with Christmas lights, so I decided to take my camera with me.

I took photo's of the Christmas lights, trees and shopping windows. And I experimented with the camera: zooming in (or out) results sometimes in amazing shots. Below you see the photo I took of a rather boring shopping window. The zooming transformed it into a color splash.

Day 346 - Photography: architecture, The Hague, Netherlands (2)

The Hague is the seat of the government in the Netherlands.

When I was in The Hague last weekend, I visited the ministry of Finance. The ministry is located in a building that has been renewed in 2011 by Dutch architects Meyer en Van Schooten. They won the PSP award for this project.

I love the colored wall and the court yard. Here are two of my photo's.

Day 345 - Photography: architecture, The Hague, Netherlands

Last weekend I had a photo class in The Hague.

We first went to the new business district to do some architecture photography. As it was a bit foggy, it was a challenge to make interesting photo's.

When browsing the internet, I came across these funny selfies from Dave Engledow, also known as 'best father of the world'.

Day 334 - Photography in black and white: surrealism

I admire the power of minimalistic work, whether it is graphic design or photography.

One of the photographers I like very much is the work of Spanish photographer Chema Madoz.
The reason I like his work is that it is both minimalitic and surrealistic.

Day 332 - Photography - streets of the world

Dutch photographer Jeroen Swolfs started in 2009 with an amazing photography challenge, entitled Streets of the World.

His goal is to visit all capital cities of the world and to take photo's of the people and street life in these cities.

Day 325 - Photography: Surrealistic creations

Did you ever try to create surrealistic photo's with photoshop? It is not always easy to create a new, interesting image.

Ionut Caras, a photographer from Romania, succeeds very well in creating amazing photo manipulations. How about this girl on a swing, high in the sky.

Day 315 - Photography: my visit to the mine complex in Waterschei Belgium (2)

Yesterday, I told you about Waterschei. A former mine complex and a wonderful location for photo shoots.

I went there with my photo class and took a lot of photo's. One of the photo's I like very much is the one you see below. I took it inside the former office of the mine company.

Day 314 - Photography: my visit to the mine complex in Waterschei Belgium,

Yesterday, I went with my photo class group to Waterschei in Belgium. Waterschei is the name of a small village. In this village you find a former mine complex. Today you can visit the mine museum, visit the former factories, rent space for an exhibition or to make a photo shoot.

The location is so nice and inspiring, and at the same time a bit sad when you think of all those people that had to work in the mines in bad conditions.

The photos below show the large tower: then and now. The entrance of the mine was situated right under this tower.

If you are looking for a photo location and you love industrial buildings: this is the place to be!

Day 308 - New photo challenge: rain

As you know, I am in a photography class. Each week we get a challenge.

The challenge for this week is: rain.Not just rain, but we need to try to find a creative way to make a photo of rain.

As it rained a lot this weekend, I had the opportunity to start this project. The photo below is taken from the inside of the car. The raindrops on the window transform the photo into a watercolor painting. I like it a lot. Unfortunately I did not have my camera, so I had to use my phone. Therefore the quality is not that goo :-(

Day 306 - DIY: Your photo on wood

Today's post is for the Dutch readers.

It is a DIY project in which you learn to 'print' your photo on wood.
To be honest, I didn't try it myself yet. But it seems fun to me.

Day 295 - Photographic journal: 365 photos in a year

On tumblr I came across the blog of Daniel, a Hungarian freelance photographer.

Daniel started also a 365days project. His theme is: a photo a day, as long as it goes.
On his blog he posted some beautiful autumn photos. The one below, posted on October 14, is one of my favorites!

Day 286 - Photography challenge: Autumn (3)

The new photo challenge is autumn.  Yesterday I posted a photo of the sun shining across the trees that still have their leafs.
