Day 364 - Photography: Happy New Year, the day after

Happy New Year!

Today I went out for a walk and took my camera with me to take some photo's of the remains of the firework. Just to show you that even trash can sometimes be beautiful.

Below three of my photo's.

Day 350 - Light photography: Christmas street lights

Yesterday I posted one of the photo's I made in the city center.

Experimenting with exposure time and zooming gives sometimes unexpected results.
Colors seem to explode, typefaces seem to become 3D, and the blurring creates new images.

Day 349 - Evening photography: color splash (zooming in and out)

Yesterday evening I went to the city center. The center is decorated with Christmas lights, so I decided to take my camera with me.

I took photo's of the Christmas lights, trees and shopping windows. And I experimented with the camera: zooming in (or out) results sometimes in amazing shots. Below you see the photo I took of a rather boring shopping window. The zooming transformed it into a color splash.

Tomorrow I'll post another photo. See you then!

Day 332 - Photography - streets of the world

Dutch photographer Jeroen Swolfs started in 2009 with an amazing photography challenge, entitled Streets of the World.

His goal is to visit all capital cities of the world and to take photo's of the people and street life in these cities.

At this moment he has visited 3 continents and he is heading! You can follow his project and his journey at www.facebook.com/streetsoftheworld.

Day 268 - Street art: Love locks in New York City

Today I read an article on love locks in a Dutch newspaper.

It said that the locks on one of the most famous bridges, the Pont des Arts, in Paris will be removed. Too bad, I really love this bridge, the locks and all the people that go to the bridge when visiting Paris.

Last summer I spend a week in New York. And I visited Brooklyn Bridge. When walking over the bridge, I suddenly discovered these love locks. Not as many as in Paris, but still very romantic...

Day 186 - Photography:

Selected People is a project form photographer Pelle Cass.

He takes dozens of photos of one and the same location.
After that he leaves the figures he chooses and deletes the rest.

By doing so he creates a new surprising world:
organized and busy.

Day 93 - My very own little people project

In 2006 Slinkachu, a British photographer, started his project 'little people':
a tiny street art project.

Below you see the results of one of his recent installations: Hide and Seek.

As I admire his work a lot, it inspired me to create my own little people project.
Tomorrow, I will show you some of my own pics.

Day 79 - The Berlin Wall (2) - monument of freedom and art

In Berlin remains of the wall cannot only be seen at the East Side Gallery.

Remains of the wall can also be seen at Checkpoint Charlie and the Potsdamer Platz.
At the Potsdamer Platz the remains are covered with graffiti which turns them in
'art' pieces.

Underneath two photos I took myself at the Potsdamer Platz.

Day 50 - My visit to the EYE FIlm Museum in Amsterdam

Last Sunday I went to Amsterdam with my photography class.
Our first stop was at the EYE Film Institute, the new Dutch centre for film culture and heritage, designed by Delugan Meissl. The white building attracts a lot of attention: is it a bird, a shell, a shark, or ...?
We spend a few hours in and around the building, and of course we took a whole lot of photos.
Here are two of them.

Day 49 - Spring is in the air!

Finally, the snow has gone and the temperatures are going up.
Today the sun is shining and the birds are busy building nests...

Spring is on it's way!

And when you live in the Netherlands, spring means also tulips!

On design boom I came across these aerial photos of tulip fields,
taken by a belgian photographer bruxelles5.

Day 47 - Little people by Slinkachu

Slinkachu, a British photographer, started in 2006 his project 'little people'.
He takes his tiny people everywhere, builds street installations and photographes the scenes.

Here are a few of his beautiful photos.
