Day 334 - Photography in black and white: surrealism

I admire the power of minimalistic work, whether it is graphic design or photography.

One of the photographers I like very much is the work of Spanish photographer Chema Madoz.
The reason I like his work is that it is both minimalitic and surrealistic.

Below you see two examples of his work. Visit his website to see more of his work!

Day 316 - Typical Dutch Design: my very own Delfts Blauw (2)

As I already told you, I started my my own Delfts Blauw project.
A serie of illustrations, minimalistic, in blue and white.

Below you find my second illustration: a jar with a lid, seen from below.
Hope you like it!

Day 301 - Minimal illustration: stormy weather

Today the weather is really stormy: the wind is blowing, leaves are flying around, trees are falling down, trains stop riding... People are told to stay inside.

Tis stormy day inspired me to make this illustration of windmills. As you can see, one of them has fallen down... even the windmills can't resist the storm.

Day 261 - Minimal graphic design: Do you know who these are? (2)

Yesterday, I showed you the posters of two famous painters. Did you guess who they are?
The answers are: Andy Warholl and Magritte.

As I like these posters a lot, I have two more of them.
Guess who this are?

The posters below are not new, but I like them a lot. So I decided to present them to you.

I love these posters for their simplicity and colors. Each poster shows an iconic painter.
Do you know who these painters are?

Day 259 - Minimal graphic design: New one-liner, Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf

Today, I finally had some to draw a new oneliner.

I choose to draw another perfume bottle. This one is my daughter's favorite perfume: Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf.

Day 238 - Minimal graphic design

Back home after a wonderful summer holiday.

Today I worked on a new brochure and a new flyer.
And I found some time to design a new one-liner :-)

As the fruit in my garden is almost ready to be eaten,
I decided to draw a pear. Here it is, enjoy!

Day 198 - Minimal graphic poster design: Dutch windmill

As you probably know, I am working on a serie of 'one-liners'.

Minimal illustrations, consisting of one simple line, that will be printed as posters and post cards.

Today's illustration is inspired by the Netherlands. Foreigners know my country mostly as the county of tulips, wooden shoes and mills. The mill I draw today is a modern windmill.

Day 194 - Minimal graphic design: pear light

The idea is not new. But as I like it, I wanted to design my own pear light bulb.

And here it is. Hanging at the ceiling in an empty room.
Waiting for someone to switch it on and off...

Day 181 - Graphic design: minimal illustration for poster and postcard design

This is another illustration of my serie of minimal illustrations or oneliners.

Today 's illustration is inspired by the restaurant I had lunch yesterday.
They had a huge wooden pepper mill. As I like fresh pepper a lot, I decided to draw one for you.

Day 169 - Graphic design: minimal design for postcard and poster 'ice cream'

Finally summer has arrived!

Today is a sunny and warm day,
time for a swim and a sun bath.

Unfortunately (or luckily), there is a lot of work to do
So I decided to go back to my studio.

Now that I have finished my work for today,
I took a few minutes to design another minimal illustration:
ice cream it is!

And this is illustration number 3 in the serie of minimal art post cards & posters.

Day 146: The Chambers of Piet Paris - Fashion illustration

Yesterday, I went to Arnhem (Netherlands) and visited the exhibition of Piet Paris.

With this exhibition, Piet Paris wants to provide insight into his work as a fashion illustrator.
In his illustrations, he strives to say as much as possible with a minimum of means.
His favorite subjects to draw are dresses, bags, shoes and jewelry.

Here are some photos to give you an impression of what the exhibition - that I recommend! - looks like.

Day 133 - Photography: Behind the edge, patterns and structure in architecture

Luigi Bonaventura, photographer, made a wonderful serie of photos from the fronts of hotels at Jesolo Beach, Venice. The title of this serie is Behind the edge.

Instead of just taking photos of the hotels, he searched for structure and patterns and tried to show them in an 'architectural' way. By doing so his photos look unreal. It seems as if the hotels are abandoned: the balconies all look the same, there are virtually no traces of the guests that occupy the rooms.

Day 122 - Minimalistic landscape photography: Painting with light

Samuel Burns is an Australian landscape photographer.

By using extremely long exposure times (8 hours!), Burns creates minimalistic, mystic, contemplative, and quietly beautiful landscapes.

Day 73 - Minimalistic photography

Minimalistic photography,
black and white,
no color,
no details,
telling us which way to go,
which choices we have to make.

This is the story of Hossein Zare, photographer (Iran).
