Day 264 - Architecture: the new Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam

As you probably know, the Rijksmuseum has been closed for reconstruction.

Two weeks ago I visited the museum. The collection is amazing, but the architecture is really beautiful. Especially the atrium. As you can see on the photo's below, the atrium is made of glass.

Day 249 - My visit to the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam

Yesterday I visitied the Rijksmuseum.

One of the things I really loved was the giant ceiling painting, made by the British artist Richard Wright. He painted more than 47,000 black stars on a white background. What makes is special is that he painted these stars directly onto the ceiling.

After 10 years of renovation, the Rijsmuseum reopened yesterday.

The Rijksmuseum (which means museum of the State) belongs to the
most breathtaking museums in the world. In the collection we find
masterpieces from Rembrandt, Johannes Vermeer and Jan Steen.
The museum expects to welcome 2 million visitors pet year.

Watch the video below and take a tour in the museum!

Day 99 - Shopping windows Bijenkorf inspired by Pieces of Art of the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam

The reopening of the Rijksmuseum inspired the Bijenkorf, a Dutch warehouse, to decorate their shopping windows with 'Pieces of Art' of this museum.

In the shopping windows, details can be found of famous paintings (Melkmeisje and Nachtwacht),  china (Delftsblauw), clothes (collars) and jewelry (Medaillon).
